A compact, field-friendly guide to southern Thailand’s most inviting coral reefs and gardens of the southern Andaman Sea, from Koh Lipe to Koh Ngai, written for travelers who want to get straight to the good stuff. This short but info-rich guide points you to the best snorkeling spots on each island, with more info on such things as what to watch for with tides and current, and how to make the most of short island time without wasting mornings at not-so-good places or hunting for access, or swimming the wrong direction against tide or currents. Inside there are clear site notes and google-based maps, plus quick IDs for common reef fish and corals so you can put names to the the more common amazing things you’re seeing. Guidance is practical and beach-level: where to slip in, notes on currents and tides where useful, and a handful of snorkeling tips that help keep your day easy and fun (last word on how to keep the mask from fogging - really!). The book is available in two formats: a widely available Amazon (glue-bound) edition, and a sturdy Lulu (spiral-bound) edition that is bound for heavier use and lies flat on a boat or beach towel. If you’re buying for discovery or gifting, Amazon is the better choice (and quite a bit cheaper); if you’re taking the book into salt and sand and touring islands for a few days, the spiral binding is the tougher companion. 7×10 in, matte cover. Or you can wait until you get here and possibly get a locally printed spiral-bound copy at a couple of places that had a few of these when they were first offered for sale in Jan 2026, and somewhat cheaper than Lulu (and as good as if not better quality) -
Or - you can order (spiral bound only) from me directly if you are already in Thailand - 800 baht (in country including EMS postage) - contact as elsewhere, corals@rudemacedon.ca . - a couple of pages from the book: one of the fish ID pages
with everyone's favorite Nemo, one of the island pics showing
where the reef and good snorkeling are, and one of the extra
info pages, this showing the lovely beach at the Koh Ngai resort
