New drug case bombshell - "...Unsealed affidavits detail wide range of alleged corruption - They suggest officers stole, lied in court, `taxed' drug deal..."
Well, you knew this would catch my attention - "See I told ya so!!!" - and sure, that's the case to a point (to me this stuff is so obvious I don't spend a lot of time on "I told ya so!"s to people who are never going to take their heads out of the sand or wherever anyway) - but I also know many other people are going to say things like - "But they were only a few of many... Most are really good people doing really good work..." - and "That they have been caught just proves the system works...."
Well, I won't deny that SOME are good people. The question is, to me, ARE these people (the ones accused of wrong-doing) just, shall we say, the exceptions that prove the rule - or are they indeed the rule? As with most things in real life, it's a complicated sort of situation - very few things are as simple as they are portrayed in the Civics SeeSpotRunWow!!! textbooks or Santa Claus stories that pass for that sort of thing in our "modern" society (modern technological toys, accompanied by the most primitive and childish beliefs by and large about any number of things....)
To what extent the cops are "good guys" or "bad guys", looked at as metaphor, goes to the core of what our society actually is - although this story provides a handy example, it is not only the police force - but EVERY person who has taken steps to put themselves in positions of authority, making rules for everyone else to follow and dishing out punishment to those who dare to disobey, from the frontline enforcer cops through the crown attorneys and courts right up through the parliaments that constitute our government, and always present in the background as the enforcer of last resort the military - who are these people working for? REALLY working for? Openly and honestly, what you see is what you get, for We The People - or in a shadowy, deadly game of bait and switch, for some Elite?
It ought to be no secret which I believe. Let me lay out some of the reasons.
First, it is not a black and white situation, fixed for all time, nor has it ever been, thus much of the confusion, and the existence of examples the "believers" in the government-propaganda-civicsbook-cum-Santa Claus society can always find and shout out that HEY!!! They are so doing the best they can!! - just look at this!!! - and it is not the same today as it was 20-30 years ago, or 60 or 100, although there are certainly common elements. Briefly, historically, it seems the situation was much more an elitist system for the first decades of our history, right up through the second world war, and then after that war, for various reasons, the forces of social justice became considerably stronger, and for the next 30 years or so, with people like Diefenbaker and Tommy Douglas and Pierre Trudeau popularly elected and very influential, some great strides were made in terms of creating a more just society, where We The People, while not actually anywhere dangerously near the real levers of power, were at least given much more influence in the ways those levers were pulled and the balances created between "they" and "us". But since the early 1970s, and the corporate-elite reactionary movement in response to this increased well-being and influence of "We The People" (balanced of course inevitably by a reduction in the power and influence of "They the Elite" - if for some reason you have not heard of the Trilateral Commission of the early 1970s and their document complaining of the problems of too much democracy in western countries, now would be a useful time to check it out....), we have again regressed to a society such as existed in the earliest years of the century (and appear to be heading even further backwards to Dickensian times - who knows where it will stop - the modern rulers are not sane - the mindset in many ways today seems little different than Napoleon's Josephine, and her "Let them eat cake!" attitude (a simple "Fuck 'em" being the modern equivalent)....), with organised crime and corruption running the country (no I'm not taking about your fucking cigarette smugglers!!! - I'm talking about the REAL money and corruption emanating from the Bay St Boys....), and all of the enforcement mechanisms thus working to protect that elitist power, rather than for the good of We The People. It took 30 years of dedicated struggle after the WW2 by hard-working, caring Canadians to get to full medicare, decent pensions, unemployment insurance, guaranteed income support for the poor, and so on established as National Policy in this wealthy country - but by the year 2000, after considerably less than another 30 years of reactionary governments (yes, Trudeau seems to have been "got to" no later than the mid-1970s as well), Paul Martin was able to brag to the elite that he had rolled all of those programs back to the level they were at in 1950. And by god, with more huge tax cuts he was going to make sure that it was going to be a damn long time before We The People managed to restore them (he didn't say that in public, of course HAHAHAHAHA but you can be sure the elite knew what he was talking about).
Wow the history of the democratic movement in the 20th century in 20 lines HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - but basically true.
The thing is, for all their greed, which definitely lessons the cognitive ability of the brain, these people are not completely stupid, and you're not going to find ANY of that stuff actually written down anywhere, at least anywhere that is likely to get into the hands of anyone who's going to blast it across the internet (very little danger the mainstream media would touch anything of that danger - sacrificing a few cops to let people know that the system, while not perfect (no-one expects perfection!) is "still working", now and then, is ok, or the occasional rogue MP or something who is causing problems) - the cop documents proving their corruption is a small sort of exception, but as the bottom feeders and enforcers, they are not required or expected to be all that bright - their job, in the final analysis and all sweettalk aside, is to beat heads, and that doesn't take a lot of cleverness - intelligence, indeed, is something of a drawback in an enforcer - thinking people generally won't behave that way, and will balk at obviously unjust orders from superiors, and that just won't do.
So most of the evidence we must examine for signs of Elite Government vs WeThePeople Government is more of a circumstantial nature - no eyewitnesses (that are going to talk, that is), and no confessionary documents. But such evidence can nonetheless be compelling, for those who care to take their eyes away from in front of the tvs (where such things will not likely be shown HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) and see it.
Really, it is compelling, and it puzzles me greatly that more people are not aware - if you walked out your door one day, and saw a man standing over a dead shot person with a smoking gun in his very hand, and the man said "Golly! A bad man just shot this person and ran off down the street!!" - what would your reaction be? Today's credible sort of tv crowd would, it seems, call the police and tell them that a bad man just shot someone and ran away down the street, completely blind to what was happening in front of their very eyes, while the true perp stood there laughing in their very faces. Think about it. You may not fit this caricature since you're here reading this page - but what about everyone else who will deny what I am saying here?
What evidence? It's the Big Ticket stuff. It's things like the so-called National Debt - such an incredibly obvious lie, in the nature of a Black Santa Claus (who takes away the presents rather than giving them) for "grownups", most of whom have not yet clued in that this bogeyman is no more real than the Jolly Christmas version - not that it exists, but the popular myth spread by the elite that it was a natural and more or less inevitable outcome of "greedy Canadians" spending beyond their means - the most basic understanding of what went on here (which for some reason you don't read about in the national media EVER, in the same way you read about for instance LOWER TAXES LOWER TAXES!!!! every day for some fucking odd reason HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA) leads to the inescapable conclusion that this whole "debt" thing was intentionally assumed by the Canadian people's government by the very worst sort of corrupt people exercising the most blatant betrayal of their fiduciary responsibility to the Canadian people they were and are supposedly serving, who saw it as a way to a) turn HUGE amounts of tax dollars over to the already wealthy elite, and b) to provide a great excuse for cutting back all of those social programs that earlier generations had fought so hard for (they aren't ONLY being greedy here in terms of saving tax dollars, they also understand that people who have the basic necessities of life - food, shelter, freedom from fear of violence, access to education, medical care, stuff like that - are then likely to strive for yet better stuff, the middle-class lifestyle, education, whatever, and are going to start to understand better how much they are being screwed around and start demanding some of that "democracy" they've heard so much about - and are also going to be much less willing to man the assembly-line minimum wage jobs which are so important in generating the wealth of the elite - that way lies true democracy, truly anathema to the elite....). (Interesting that after 20 years of this Debt Scare shit they still hammer it at us - I think that is as clear a sign as any they KNOW how fucking shaky it all is, and how quickly the whole lying edifice would crumble if people ever started thinking about it (the reason any real talk about Monetary Reform can NEVER be allowed into the mainstream media) - just this week, for instance, from a policy journal that USED to be left-centrist (fuck they're taking over everything) comes this offering from the Institute for Research on Public Policy - "...As Finance Minister Ralph Goodale enters his second week of pre-budget consultations, the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP.org) is pre-releasing the introductory chapter of a forthcoming book entitled Is the Debt War Over?, in which editors Christopher Ragan and William Watson conclude that the answer to this question is decidedly no...." - well I ain't gonna get into it all here - but it basically says that we goshdarn greedy Canadians are STILL probably going to be leaving our children in terrible debt if we don't carry on with more cutbacks to what few social programs we have and give the rich more tax breaks. Odd they don't care to get into how 20 years of doing this has, for some reason, not improved our position any. The only point being is that this is all in defence of greed and elitism, although of course they do not phrase it like that. They lie, as always, about most things - all we were ever talking about here was and is political will - either the government is working to use the wealth of this country that is generated by ALL of the people herein to make decent lives for everyone, or the government works for the Elite of this country, to allow them to accumulate huge fortunes and fuck everyone else. I don't suppose I really need to point out to anyone who is reading this what the government strategy has been, and continues to be.)
The whole farcical modern "electoral" process, through which the elite "legitimately" set the laws that control us all, is another completely obvious indication that we live under a government of, by and for The Elite, rather than We The People - so obviously under the control of money, and a Tweedledum-Tweedledee "decision" offered to voters as to which elite-controlled candidate they want "representing" them for the next few years (yes anyone is allowed to enter such contests, but given their lack of money and the refusal of the media to give them any more than the most cursory coverage (and also undercut anyone who appears to threaten the elite candidates, the freezeout of the Greens during the last Ontario election being a perfect example, and the ongoing refusal to give any coverage to the unite-the-left initiative, in contrast with the endless "unite-the-right" coverage (both groups representing approximately the same number of voters), are VERY clear indicators of what the media is doing) their chances of being elected are very very small, and the chances of enough of them being elected at any one time to cause any damage are next to nil - and this "house edge" is all the elites need, and they know it); and once the Tweedledum-dees have been elected, they do what the PMs office tells them (which is in turn following the policy desires of the Bay St Boys - again, no written confessions, but just look at the government policies!!!), not the people they are supposed to be representing. The drug laws are a perfect example - if the will of the people of Canada was truly in any way being exercised through "their " government, marijuana at the very least would have been legalised long ago - but since it is such an important issue to the elite (not only for profit derived from illegal sales, but also as a justification to maintain a large ready-to-use-violence police force and another "secret" police force prying around people's lives at will and a court system to toss a lot of people in jail as required), there is no fucking way they can allow the will of the people to prevail. (a small letter to the Star on drugs and poverty this week)
It's very important that such truths do NOT get much airing in the public domain lest many others start to understand what is happening here Mr. Jones, so the "media" of course are a central facet of this government of the elite, by their control of what Canadians get to read every day - this last week offering a perfect example as neither of Canada's self-designated "national" papers saw fit to cover the World Social Forum in India; the WSF has been gathering once a year for the last 4 years now with considerable success (over 100,000 participants this year! - a LOT of well-known and influential people - but well-known and influential in opposition to the Capitalism and Globalisation the Pispot and Globe promote) to discuss how We The People of the World can deal with the many evils of globalisation and capitalism - a media "of the people" would naturally be interested in such a thing, indeed be carrying a great deal more about social issues around the world of people fighting for freedom and better lives (but instead we see Business Sections devoted to the "investors" and promoting government policies that screw the poor and middle classes so the investors can up their loot by a few percentage points ... for the few, anyway, or "lifestyle" sections extolling the wonders of consumer toys rather than, as a People's paper might, the wonders of fewer meaningless toys and more freedom and reflection on society and what actually constitutes a meaningful life....) - a paper "of the elite" equally naturally would want to ignore such a thing as much as possible. Again - circumstantial evidence, no confessions, no witnesses, no editorials loudly (and honestly!) proclaiming "We will not cover this socialist shit that gives our slave labour, those who create the wealth that we steal, bad ideas and endangers our elite!!" - but offer a better reason they would not cover this event if you can. (I must confess, not having access to any more than the Internet versions of both of these papers (and about to lose the Pispot as they go to subscription, apparently - no loss journalistically speaking HAHAHAHAHAAA - but it's always nice to have an "in" however small into the enemy camp....) I did not realise this - but the Internet Press of Canada, through a Rabble Writer, picked it up - Where's the Globe? Where's the Post? Proclaiming their allegiance to corporations and capital by Anthony Fenton - well done. Just imagine if Canadians could read this stuff EVERY day on their local newsstands - opinions might change.... which is, of course, exactly why you are NOT going to get this stuff on your local newsstands as long as "they" have anything to say about it (and right now, of course, they have all there is to say about it, practically speaking...))
Again that Tide in the affairs of us all - an excellent recent speech by John Pilger of Australia on these and many related things - one of that number of REAL journalists we have in the world who, for some odd reason, doesn't seem to be featured in Canadian papers any more than he is allowed to appear in the Australian media - Power, Propaganda and Conscience in the War on Terror (RM Archive copy) - a couple of quotes:
"...When we speak of this in regard to totalitarian societies and dictatorships, we call it brainwashing: the conquest of minds. It’s a notion we almost never apply to our own societies. Let me give you an example. During the height of the cold war, a group of Soviet journalists were taken on an official tour of the United States. They watched TV; they read the newspapers; they listened to debates in Congress. To their astonishment, everything they heard was more or less the same. The news was the same. The opinions were the same, more or less. “How do you do it?” they asked their hosts. “In our country, to achieve this, we throw people in prison; we tear out their fingernails. Here, there’s none of that? What’s your secret?” ..... The secret is that the question is almost never raised. Or if it is raised, it’s more than likely dismissed as coming from the margins: from voices far outside the boundaries of what I would call our ‘metropolitan conversation’, whose terms of reference, and limits, are fixed by the media at one level, and by the discourse or silence of scholarship at another level. Behind both is a presiding corporate and political power...."
"...“No one has ever told me what to say.” George Orwell wrote: “Circus dogs jump when the trainer cracks the whip. But the really well-trained dog is the one that turns somersaults when there is no whip."..."
Yes yes yes yes I hear you say but that is not US!!! - look at the great outrage expressed in the media this week when the RCMP dared to raid the house of a journalist looking for evidence of some "secret document" she had acquired - Raids evoke outrage at 'police state' tactics for instance - so there!! Our Truly Free Canadian media looking out for their rights, so they can continue to protect ours!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAAA - well, actually, I doubt anyone who would be reading this page would think that sort of thing - but why indeed are the press, if they're such tame Elite Puppets, protesting an operation such as this conducted by (if one believes all the Conspiracy Theories aired here!) one of the Elite Enforcement Branches? Personally, I expect it has more to do with upper level turf wars than looking out for thee or me - the Ottawa Citizen, don't forget, is an Asper paper, and I expect the Aspers regard themselves as well above any kind of law and don't want the RCMP or anyone else interfering with them or their reporters, such as they are - recall this is the same paper that fired its editor of longstanding after taking the paper over last year for daring to criticize Chretien, a good bud of the Aspers - sort of short on protecting the "freedom" of journalists there!!! - But in terms of looking out for "We The People", I don't think they're really all that concerned - there wasn't a lot of outrage expressed last fall, for instance, when the Truly Free Canadian Media barred the Green Party from participating in the televised debates in the Ontario election, in which the rather eloquent leader would have been saying things that it appears a whole lot of Ontarians agreed with, and might have garnered quite a lot of support - hard to say, we'll never know now - that might have upset the Elite plans for the election. THAT would have been looking out for We The People. Or what about stories about "WE NEED PR WE NEED PR" or "20% OF CANADIAN CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY" being blasted across the front pages of all the papers every day for a couple of years instead of "LOWER TAXES LOWER TAXES!!!" - THEN I might say such a media was actually looking out for We The People. But no - what I think they're looking out for with this protest of the RCMP raid is THEIR freedom to report what they want when they want and why they want - which would be good if the paper was actually dedicated to We The People, but is less uplifting when the paper is dedicated more to the power of We The Corporate Government. (There were a number of commentaries from the Star about this as well, and let's give them the benefit of the doubt - they do look out for We The People somewhat more than the rest.... "...Disturbingly, the "war on terror" is becoming a chilling frontal assault on Canadian citizens and values by the very police we employ to protect us. ... (from Probe RCMP role in Arar abuse case)) - but still somewhat suspect, as the letter above indicates.
The RCMP raid is, of course, another example of state power run amok in the name of this nonsensical "war on terrorism", and it is of considerable interest, I would think, that when accused of passing info to the US and actually condoning Arar's being shipped off to Syria for a little serious questioning, the RCMP et al. have done nothing but deny and stonewall - no investigation necessary folks!!! - but when a reporter turns up with a "secret" document - boy, the gloves come off real quick (say - does this sound familiar - didn't something like this just happen in the great ol USofA???? HAHAHAHAHAHAAA - li'l brother always likes to imitate Big Bro HAHAHAHAHAHAAA).
The concern for We The People is pretty limited, in any event - here we have one John Ibbotson of the Globe laying out the way it is, great outrage about Press Freedom notwithstanding, it seems they do indeed feel that there are just some things We The People should NOT be told - We need a public inquiry, now - (talking about why one was not held before this outrageous RCMP raid) - "... First, such an inquiry could compromise national security, by revealing the ways in which Canadian and U.S. police and intelligence agencies co-operate in their efforts to detect and prevent terrorist threats. The fruits of that co-operation are self-evident: Canada and the United States have been spared a sequel to the attacks of Sept. 11...." - by golly, there you have it chillun - there have been no terraist raids on our sacred soil because the terraist police is doing such a damn fine job!!! And this from Canada's once most distinguished national newspaper.
- another - "...A distinguished retired judge will have to be found; he or she will need to be given broad powers to subpoena individuals and evidence; much of the inquiry will doubtless be held in camera, and some of its findings may have to be kept from the public...." - yessirreebobsyerunclejack - we pore folks just too fucking stoopid to be allowed the TOP SECRET stuff - our Great Free Media telling us so.
- absorb enough of that kind of shit day after day (which most Canadians do) and after awhile you start to believe it. And then comes the iceberg. Or the gestapo. Or both.
As in the case of one Mr. Z, shall we call him, who has now been in a Canadian prison on a "security certificate" awaiting hearing concerning his deportation for saying things that offend some people - an entire year, and he has yet to hear the evidence against him, and a Federal Court judge has just said that's fine - Federal Court rejects Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel's bid for interim freedom - "I am constrained by the reality of national security reasons which impede giving full expression to the grounds for continuing the detention." - and there you go. Create a huge hysteria about TERRORISM TERRORISM - no actual investigation or hearing or proof of any kind necessary, just a few months of wild stories from the media and elected "representatives" and others - and that lays the necessary groundwork to start passing a bunch of laws that most people would never tolerate without the TERRORISM hysteria - and within those "laws" is a bunch of stuff that allows the government to start locking up people they don't like for whatever reason - and they don't have to tell you!!!! - TOP SECRET NATIONAL SECURITY!!!! - and that is about one teeny tiny fucking HAIR away from total fascism and the Nazi gestapo, whom so many of our "secret police" resemble anyway.
And nobody says anything. I guess there's a good reason they don't teach history, or stuff like the Rev Neimuller story in our schools, or show that kind of stuff on tv - much better to carry on with the suspicious Arabs in beards and turbans or whatever, keep people mindlessly scared, so they don't start thinking about what the fuck is actually happening here mr fucking jones. Watch yer stones jones if you ever do open your eyes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.
And one final latebreaking thing as always - back to the opening salvo of "corrupt cops" - Tape reveals racist police comments at Ipperwash standoff - about the trial (that the "non-corrupt"????? Harris government has managed to delay for years with the "non-corrupt"????? court system) of some cops for shooting one Dudley George - some of the evidence is finally coming to light, and isn't very pretty - I won't get into it here, but it's pretty hard to figure this stuff is just reflective of a few "bad apples" and not systemic.
It's not simple, of course, or black and white as I noted before - there are lots of things going on, and they all get mixed together sometimes. It's like a big game - if you stay inside the box the "authorities" have told to you stay inside, and trained you to accept since the day you were born (Well, they've told me to wear my seatbelt and that damned terrorists did 911 and might be coming here so I should be afraid of all bogeymen they tell me about, so I wear my seatbelt and believe damned terrorists did 911 and might be coming here!! oh fear!!!), then the cops and authorities inside the box are mostly just fine, like it says in the See Dick and Spot Fuck Jane schoolbooks, and generally speaking the cops won't beat on you too bad - but outside the box is the real world, of darthvader-uniformed cops and pepper spray and batons and DO WHAT YOU'RE FUCKING TOLD AND DON'T ASK QUESTIONS!!! WHACK!!! for those who dare NOT think "this about that" or defy them by going seatbeltless, or even worse dare to gather on the streets and question their sacred edicts out loud - and the violence is escalating all over - think Seattle when the corps et al. were taken somewhat by surprise in their arrogant assumption that We The People were pretty much contained, and didn't even get to finish their meeting, and in response there was some but not a lot of violence from the cops, to the latest episode in Miami a couple of months ago, where the cops were all in the new Bush-ordained-NWO "pre-emptive" mode, and were rounding up protestors before anything happened, actively inciting confrontations themselves, and reached a level of violence unheard of in any supposedly democratic country since the second war (note the "supposedly" - believe me I know America is a "real" democracy about as much as the National Post is a "real" newspaper HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA good one!!!)
- anyway, the last few years we've been seeing a LOT of people starting to understand about the box, stumbling towards the light through the dark and shadowy land of Capitalist Elites and citizen-slaves and brainwashing from birth and tv fantasylands, and crawling up to the top and looking over the edges - and we've been seeing the response of governments and police forces around the world - the batons and pepper spray, followed by courts and jail - but as long as most people in the box take the government line as pushed at them day after day by the corporate media, maintained by the constant police presence and barely-concealed threat of violence for those who dare step outside the permitted lines, and close their eyes to the truth of their/our condition, the fiction will remain in place.
I should also note here, honestly, that as bad as I think things are here right now, there are indeed still many good people in the system, trying to do a good job in bad circumstances. But there are fewer of these people than there were - since the days of Mulroney federally, and people like Harris and Klein and Grant Devine and now Campbell in BC, most such people have been weeded out of the system, and replaced with those more amenable to being given orders by their corporate masters rather than truly and conscientiously acting in the public good. And they are pretty much found only on the "inside" of the box, helping citizens go about their sanctioned business - but if anyone is trying to get out of the box, look out. The Bad Cops are very, very close these days.
The drug case referred to at the first also notes a perfect example of how corruption spreads throughout any system it is allowed into in the first place - fellow officers are corrupted even if they did not directly participate by not wanting to be seen as "ratting" on their comrades - I am sure the same rationale is used in every level of the "WE Make The Rules and YOU Follow Them" system, from lawyers refusing to condemn fellow lawyers, likewise "judges", through MPs being very reluctant to say anything against fellow MPs. The old slippery slope story.... and We The People are all paying the price.
Note little box on top left (fart on conrad) - and many stories about Hollinger and His Lordshit (ooooo what a lovely typo!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA) in some deep doodoo himself this past week HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - what's that old saying? ask and ye shall receive??HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
- ah life's ok sometimes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
War is one of the greatest of human perversities, mass murder of huge groups of innocent people by small groups of those whose psychological makeup, for whatever reason, allows them to commit this murder, and one that seems to me to be connected pretty closely to one of the "big lies" - I haven't seen this idea around much, although it is likely out there in some convoluted form, one of those items that don't fit very well into soundbites (lot of them around, all expressing important ideas that any intelligent citizenry should be thinking about a bit more than what time their favorite drama/soap/comedy starts tonight...) - but figure - any modern "war" you want to think of - it's always advertised as some country against some other country - or groups of countries with alliances and what not, and usually in the name of some higher goal as well - "Freedom!!!!" against "Fascism!!!!" or "Democracy!!!!" against "Communism!!!!" or some such crap - but is it really so? Or perhaps to make it more clear, we ought to go back a step perhaps and define "country" - is a county its people, or its government? Or are they one and the same? Worth a bit of thought, getting behind the bullshit propaganda brainwashing - and perhaps the war question can inform the thought experiment. Pick a war - any one - and ask yourself - did the PEOPLE of country/coalition A "go to war" with the people of country/coalition B - or did the **governments** go to war, and use the people of their countries as some sort of cannon fodder (all roused up by a few months of hysterical propaganda of course - monsters throwing babies from incubators or having WMDs all ready to use and shit like that, or contrived "attacks" like Roosevelt allowing the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbour) to attempt to pursue some rather more personal ends, little different in substance than any gang of small time hoods and their leather-jacketed tough guy leader, dominating others by brute force for no other end than personal power and glory, on whatever scale? Can you think of any normal citizen of any country who actually said something like "Yea!! I personally HATE ALL fucking Japs/Germans/picksomeone and decided that by fuck (or by God whatever) I was just going to have to get a gun and go and do some killing!!" And just coincidentally my great government was there organising all of us and weapons and supplies and all the stuff we needed to do that. Yea fucking right ace.
Boy talk about complete mind control. Just fucking imagine if all the GI Joes in every country told their fearless leaders to go fuck themselves when they started with the war talk - if they wanted to go to war to go themselves!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA - imagine GI George (or the editors of the Pispot last year!!!!) in their little cute flight suits with crotch enhancers actually carrying a little gun to the front lines!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - fuck I love messing with people's minds!!!!!!!!!
Paul Harris is at it again - another GREAT column on Democracy - World Inc. RM archive copy -
"...We cheerfully elect government after government all round the world of people who wouldn’t know their brass from their oboe but who surely know how to be the lickspittles of corporations. We have allowed ourselves to be conned into believing that what is good for business is good for society, rather than the other way round; our governments have sold us down the proverbial river and have permitted the rape of resources that properly belong to the people; and we have accepted the rule of merchants whose only goal is to make sure they get our money. ..."
- note of course the WE WE WE - nobody has held a gun to our head and run off with our society - WE have voted for the people who have taken it from us (I think I have said before I have a bit of a problem with that "WE" shit - but in general....) - I couldn't fucking believe it when Harris (the BAD one!!!) got a second majority government in Ontario a few years ago (even with the fixed FPTP system), and it's hard to believe even now how much support there seems to be for Chretien's Libs, now the Martin Libs - they are promising more of the same - Martin brags about how he has regressed Canadian spending on social programs to 1950s levels, and apparently everyone thinks that's just fucking fantastic. Sure there's not much to choose from alternatively - at least if you get your politics etc from the mainstream media and their dictates about who you should be voting for - but there has ALWAYS been alternatives that are there - for people who think for themselves and reject the mainstream brainwashing. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA - that'd be all 2% of us, I guess. Sad.
A highly interesting story here - Dennis Mills spills the beans - it's about the Toronto waterfront which I am sure is an important issue to some people but not being a local I don't get too excited about myself - but this line caught my attention - "..."Whoever thought I would have the report written by 10:30 on Monday morning?' Mills asked cheerfully, glancing up at a clock to record the exact time on his achievement. He'd been appointed to review the federal government's role in revitalising Toronto's waterfront just 72 hours earlier...."
Catch that going by? 72 hours to write a semi-major report for the government!!!! and for no big bucks!!!! - just on his "day-job" salary!!! - kind of puts an interesting light on all the government "reports" that take a year or two to produce at costs of up to millions of dollars for a select group of "consultants" doesn't it??? All part of the scam of the "pretend democracy" - obviously any researcher worthy of the name these days could, primarily through the net, put together a pretty decent report about damn near any topic at all in a few days for people to peruse, that laid out the pros and cons of whatever the subject was for people to have a think about - and if that person was prejudiced to one side or the other, it would equally be the matter of a few days for someone from the other side to put together a similar report from that side, and then the people would have TWO good reports to look at - and then they could start talking about stuff. This, of course, presumes that the government actually wanted people to be well informed about an issue and be talking about it!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA FUCK I JUST FELL THROUGH THAT LOOKING GLASS AGAIN!!! - stupid assumption altogether - the governments these days obviously want no such fucking thing at all, thus the big reports over a couple of years, passing millions to their pals, then either shelved if they suggest something the government isn't really too fussy about (don't hear much about the Romanov Report these days do we HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) or quickly put into action (any number of reports could be mentioned that the Harris government solicited from its rightwing buds (for BIGGGGG bucks!!!!!) and then used as an excuse for all kinds of things from selling off the nuclear reactors to its pals at pennies on the buck to cutting welfare rates.....) - it seems to me that, in a democracy of, by and for We The People, as this is supposed to be, any number of us would be able to put together a report on most anything for the same price as Mills charged - it is our democratic responsibility to take an interest in our society, and be involved - and not because we're getting paid for it!!!
Wow Alice some freakin good stuff in that hookah man HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Odd Thoughts: It occurs to me that one reason the media has created and maintains our "sound-bite" society is to keep us ("us" that is as in those of "us" who rely on the mainstream media for their "news") from focusing on anything important long enough to actually learn about it ourselves and start demanding something serious be done about it - most stories in the news are only big for a day or two, allowing the media to say with a straight face (at least in public) that they're doing their job, and then we're on to something else - a great way for those who control the media to also control the public debate - a more thoughtful and reflective society, informed by a more intelligent and honest and ethically sound media, would be more demanding that big things be dealt with rather than shoved aside in the rush rush rush of the "new news" - a sane society, for instance, would be much more interested in a full and open and honest debate over a period of time about something like Canadian involvement in the latest US plan to militarise space (excellent report on the whole thing here - Canada and Ballistic Missile Defence by Ernie Regehr, the Director of Project Ploughshares, written on behalf of UBC's Liu Institute for Global Issues - something else that once again you will not find in the mainstream media, who prefer to keep a lid on this as much as possible, for some odd reason - likely because they are all in favor of it, but know that most Canadians want nothing to do with it) rather than letting that be a short news item one day, and then getting on to earth-shaking matters such as some American singer being charged with some sexual offence or the latest pretty smiling face shoved forward as a prospective leader of the front party for the Ameri-adian Repugnant Party in the upcoming election (it's amazing, at least to me, that not ONE columnist or paper is noting this amazing power of the media to make overnight personalities of someone like this Stromach chick, and give her serious instant "credibility" as the potential leader of a party that is only a few votes away from being the Canadian government - and yet how that same media can give as little attention as possible to the leader of a party that truly does represent the interests of FAR more Canadians, or NO attention to the move to "unite the left" - and then how few Canadians can pick this stuff up as well, how very obviously everyone is being manipulated by the press.... - all part of the box, of course - people are NOT encouraged to go around thinking about things or asking questions about stuff like this....).
A sane society, in touch with things that really mattered, would be tackling the important things and working at them until they were solved - this is eminently possible - but those who control our society do not want these things either tackled or solved, for that path leads inevitably to an egalitarian sort of society where they would not enjoy the great wealth or power they now have, so they try to turn us away from such things - and most people meekly accept their "leadership" in such things.
- it's a great way for the Elite to keep us from getting too upset about something, so upset that we might demand some changes - the terrible child poverty in Canada, for instance, around 20% of the children of this country getting substandard beginnings in life so that Conrad and d'Aquino and their Bay St Buds can pay ever lower taxes, gets about one story a year, and although a lot of people frown in displeasure and think we really ought to do something about that, the next day it's out of the news again and life just sort of lets everyone put that unpleasant thought behind them for another year, as we read about the latest car accident somewhere or the latest Bush idiocy.
- it doesn't mean things HAVE to be forgotten of course, all "news" is indeed not relegated to the dustbin of history after only a day or two - if the media-cum-government (at the direction of course of the Bay St Boys) want us to be thinking about something then THAT kind of story can be repeated ad infinitum - witness the drive for LOWER TAXES LOWER TAXES we've seen for the last 20 years, and the Debt Crisis Debt Crisis Debt Crisis - it's a rare week that goes by even now without someone demanding lower taxes - probably because most Canadians are not completely suicidal, and recognize even after years of attempted brainwashing that lower taxes might be nice, but taxes are needed to fund government programs we all depend on, and the problems we have been seeing with the health care system just for instance are pretty directly related to a lack of funding which is pretty directly related to government income which is pretty directly related to taxes, so there has to be some balance somewhere - but the hype and propaganda slowly takes effect, as more and more Canadians are also starting to "realise" that there are financial difficulties with government finances, and thus things like some privatisation of health care, or the infamous PPP hospitals, may be necessary - all of which is pure rightwing reactionary bullshit of the first order, of course - but if you tell somebody something enough times, they'll start to believe it.
Anyways, enough enough enough!!!! - it's no secret that the government of Canada is a government of, by and for the elite, and the governments of the world pretty much all the same - the question of the day, as always, is what are we going to do about it?? I don't know myself - it seems to me that waking people up so they understand this is the first step, but it's like telling any addict she or he has a problem - the first step is admitting the problem, and most people, it seems, are very determined in their stance that things are more or less ok, and whatever problems there are, our leaders are trying their best to fix, and all we can do is sit back and not worry about it - which is, of course, the exact thing the leaders want them to do. It's like the old story about leading a horse to water, but not being able to make it drink - I and others can write and talk all we want, but as long as the kids are determined that their Santa Claus story is what they prefer to believe, then it is a frustrating thing to do. But we must keep trying.
Here, finally, for now, is a recent piece by one of the world's great writers and freedom fighters, from India, named Arundhati Roy - The New American Century (RM Archive copy), from a speech she gave at the aforementioned World Social Forum last week, in which she also addresses the problem of what we are to do. "...Radical change cannot be negotiated by governments; it can only be enforced by people. ...".
And so Roy and Pilger and many, many other writers, far more eloquent and truthful than those who are allowed to demonstrate their ability to do somersaults without even an order from the masters in the mainstream media, fight and fight for justice and democracy in the world.
But - if I might close with a quote from another great writer -
"....But now," says the Once-ler, "Now that you're here,
the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear
UNLESS someone like YOU cares a whole awful lot
nothing is going to get better, it's not."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA - see ya around.
How about a cold one? HAHAHAHHAAA
(hunhhh??? Oh! - Dr. Seuss of course!!! - if ya won't listen to me or Ms Roy or Pilger or the rest, maybe you'll listen to him HAHAHAHAHAHA)

Will you feel content telling that to your grandchildren, should they survive,
