Inside the Box the citizens choose from options a, b or c, whatever the rulers decree are the options. OUTSIDE the Box - we decide ourselves what the options are. We understand a, b and c - but we also see x, y and z where appropriate - and anything else we like. Inside the Box there are 4 dimensions max - two suffice for many - some like the George are probably happy with one, any more being just too darn confusing - outright, intentional stupidity is pretty one-dimensional. That so many Americans think George is a great wise and brave president says quite a lot about their dimensions too - and I suppose their tv viewing habits. Outside the Box - countless. Limited only by your imagination and dreams. And the clubs of the one-dimensioners of course - they hate everything they fear and they fear anything better than them or that they don't understand - which covers a lot of ground.

Well - here we go again - I am pretty close to certain now that there is some kind of 5th column operating in Canada, as part of the Corporate Revolution, to do what they can to obstruct the emergence of any political force that might defeat them - I don't think that many people would argue with the fact that most Canadians, regardless of CCCE and media propaganda, do NOT support corporate government in Canada, so it is passing strange, when you think of it, that they continue to vote for parties that give them just that, in spades at that. There are many examples - but the most powerful and undeniable has to be the major Canadian issue of health care - at least 90% of Canadians think the healthcare system needs to be protected and strengthened and strongly supported the Romanov Report, and both wings of the Bay St Boys parties, whatever they call themselves, have either been slashing medicare or promoting more and more privatisation, which most Canadians do not want or support (the words "Romanov Report" NEVER pass their little corporate lips anymore at all, for some odd reason HAHAHAHAAAA). Yet election after election the Bay St Boys parties walk off with the government. There are many reasons for this, of course, from massive propaganda to many if not most Canadians not actually understanding that the Libs and "Conservatives" whatever they want to call themselves are two sides of the same coin, to both parties lying a lot about what they are doing (how Paul Martin can pontificate about how much he wants to save the health care system after ten years of gutting it as Finance Minister without being either booed or actually run off any stage he speaks from is a huge testament to the power of modern media propaganda in Canada).

There are many people out there who DO speak for Canada and Canadians and things most Canadians support, such as the healthcare system - so it is something that bears a bit of thinking about as to why more of these people are not getting elected. Why would an average Canadian, who wants his or her healthcare system maintained, vote for people who have been dismantling that system and promise to carry on doing that, when candidates are available who promise to strengthen the health care system???? Oh puzzle puzzle!!! (and recall that health care is just one issue - the other issues are not perhaps as overwhelmingly black and white, but nonetheless most Canadians seem to not be too excited about continually lowering corporate taxes which lead to all of the other financial problems, or about joining the Americans' little Star Wars plans, or ever more and greater "free trade" treaties (which, although, I think, many people are starting to understand have a great deal more to do with some kind of "World Corporate Bill of Rights" or something than any kind of trade practices to help average Canadians).

So WHY then do people in polls keep indicating that the political race they see is between Tweedledum and Tweedledee - the Libs and Cons (yea, I can go with Cons! - hahahaha - actually Cons I and Cons II would be REALLY appropriate hahahahaha) - and continually relegate the parties who support the things most Canadians believe in to "fringe" status, or next to it? Is this really the will of Canadians at work - or is there some evidence that the people are being manipulated here??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

well - you KNOW where I'm gonna be on this one!

For years I have believed the MAIN cause of all this was propaganda, and the susceptibility of Canadians to such propaganda by watching too much tv, which definitely softens the brain and its capacity to think critically, and formulate one's own thoughts and opinions, and the freezeout of almost all "middle-of-the-road" political commentary in favor of right-wing shit promoting all the neocon wetdreams like lower taxes and "free trade", etc and etc. And I still think that has been important - but now, once again with an election coming up, we are seeing "new parties" forming on the "left" - or "center", really - we need to get away from this "left" shit, since the historical or political root of the word is involved with "communism" or "socialism", which again are economies completely state-planned, which most of these new parties are not talking about at all, although the neocons and their rightwing press do their best to keep that false bogeyman alive - they do a lot of bogeymen!!! - it is a great little propaganda tool, though, for the rightwing crazies to help marginalize us - and every little bit helps! - anyway, where was I - it's slowly dawning on me (I may be slow, but I usually get there!) that all of this new party stuff, every election, dividing the "sane rational sector" of Canadian politics is not - CANNOT!!! - be accidental, year after election year after election year the last 20 years when the neocon revolution has come to the fore (although still unnamed in the popular press for some odd reason HAHAHAHAHAAAA) - there's a lot of pretty smart people in the center-left political arena, and it's obvious to anyone that the old saying of "divide and conquer" is especially true in a FPTP election system like we have in Canada - so why aren't some of these people doing something to UNITE the left, rather than continually dividing it?!?!?!?

Well - as always, a lot more questions than easy answers - but then, there is some part of philosophy somewhere that recognises that asking the right questions is at least half the battle - you don't get far, for instance, by spending your time wondering where the boats go when they fall off the edge of the flat world - but you start to make progress when the clever kid asks "But mommy dearest? What if the world is round and not flat? HAHAHAHAHAHAAA" - of course, that particular kid will likely get a good swat upside the head for daring to peer outside the box even briefly, but sooner or later one of these kids will grow up into a real scientist and ask the question again, and someday we will all get a bit closer to the truth, thanks to people like this. Unfortunately, the pattern of "one step ahead and three back" is also pretty evident these days.

So my new theory is Fifth Columnists running around the playgrounds of the Canadian Sanity Center people (i.e. Canadian "left" if you didn't follow all that) - always in the background, whispering in people's ears, Iago in the flesh, creating dissent and suspicion, driving wedges between the people who should be, who NEED to be, working together, if we are going to save this country.

I got off on this whole train of thought this week when the SAME DAY (ok, THAT might be a coincidence, but don't use that word around here too often!) two emails came into my box, about how they are going to either continue on with their already formed alternative or actually start a new one - CAP Election letter and New Party Election letter

- this completely baffles me, it really does - the one group says that the NDP have no chance of getting elected - well jesus h christ martha of course they don't if all the people who SHOULD be supporting them are hacking at their feet with hatchets!!!! duhhhhh as they say!!!!

What it says to me is that the neocons running this country are very well aware of how shallow their hold on power is, and that as long as we have the official trappings of a "democracy" here, with a relatively honest paper voting system (I will give good odds that one of the first initiatives of our new government, whichever Bay St Party it is, which will NOT be talked about in the election campaign!!!!, will be to start hyping Diebold-type electronic voting machines, which will be in place by the next election, along with the biometric id cards) - and they are very well aware that if Canadians had a solid, credible, united "centrist" party to vote for, as opposed to the rightwing Libs and faaaaaaar-right wing wacko-neocons, there would be a REAL majority government in this country for the first time in decades - and that just cannot be allowed to happen. Fuck, they'd have to call in George and his buds for a regime change!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAA - (not joking)

Actually here's a good example, in a way, from another email that hit my box - I've mentioned Murray Dobbin before, as one of the great Canadians, and his Word Warriors initiative, which this is part of - Dobbin's Word Warriors #8 - but why is Murray taking this path - it's mostly a big waste of time, since the media are NOT going to publish letters opposing the corporate agenda in any significant numbers, and certainly not any good ones? Why is he not using his time working together with Mel Hurtig and Paul Hellyer and David Orchard and Maude Barlow and others like that - and all of them with the NDP (I'm not a great NDP fan for the last few years, as I say in the letters, but they DO represent right now, especially with Jack Layton, the ONLY credible, national, established Canadian NON-corporate government party!) - to get rid of corporate government in Canada, which they all seem to recognize as the big enemy of the times????? These are NOT stupid people, they all HAVE to be very well aware that by offering Canadians several small, poorly funded "alternative" parties, none of which are going to get any more than the odd patronising sort of mention in the media, Canadians are going to look them over and decide there is - truly - no hope in ANY of them getting elected in any significant numbers, with this FPTP voting system - so, as usual, they will look over the Libs and the current Tweedle-dee offering of Bay St, and try to figure which one might do the least damage to the country in the next few years - rather than voting for some kind of united centrist party that would actually do GOOD stuff for the next few years!!!! (you know, stuff like getting the Canadian health care system off its last legs by implementing the Romanov report recommendations, telling Bush and the PNAC to stick their Star Wars where the sun don't shine, shoving the FTAA in the trash barrel where it belongs, all sorts of stuff like that - stuff Canadians want!!!!)

(Yes, I've written most of these people letters about this, going back several years, and most of them have not replied - Paul Hellyer was the only one who did, a nice polite note a couple of years or more back saying it was probably a good idea, but he couldn't see anyone else going for it - evidently knowing more than I did or do about things, which isn't surprising given his history))

But as I said before, as long as these people are determined to NOT work together, NOT to give Canadians a united centrist party of some sort that will give the Bay St Boys a real run for the gov of our country, this ol expat will stay ex - I personally am not a masochist, and although I do enjoy a good go at a nearby windmill at times, I also like to feel there is hope in what I do, somewhere - and as long as these people absolutely refuse to work together - indeed, work against one another - there can be no real hope for saving our country. And as long as the PEOPLE of Canada appear oblivious to what is happening - as above.

So carry on with all your fun and games, people - but be ready to explain to your kids some day why, oh why, you let Canada die, because you REFUSED to work together with other Canadians who also wanted to save Canada, so they said - but they too refused to work with you - but for YOU daddy or mommy or grampy or grammy - why did YOU yourself refuse to work with those others, why did you insist on starting your own little party rather than working together with someone else? Eh?? When working together was the ONLY path to saving our country, why did YOU insist on having your own personal little party, rather than joining with the others? Huh?? I often bemoan the lack of real journalists in our Canadian Box - here, however, is one of the few - A week of grim lessons in war on terrorism by HAROON SIDDIQUI - missed it last week - for some VERY odd reason (HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA) the Star is not putting such pieces on its op-ed web page - ya gotta go looking for them yourself - IF you know where to look (learn their names, look in the Star "columnists" page and check). VEEEEEERRRRRRY interesting. Good read though, lots of common sense, so sadly lacking in most of the EVERYONE BE TERRIFIED OF TERROR shit that fills the papers every day, including the Star in their Canadian media role as unquestioning purveyor of government bullshit - this is not just a small thing, it is very dangerous - here, for example, is one place people who don't think well might go - Eco-terrorists spike logs - you betcha - ANYONE who does something someone in "authority" doesn't much care for is going to be called a fucking terrorist now. And that includes a LOT of people these days.

Here is an interesting thing to look at, in terms of the whole "box" idea. As I have said, many people do whatever it is they do with full belief in what they are doing - that is, not lying to us or pretending about whatever - and these are the most dangerous in many ways, although the ones you would actually most trust in a moral or ethical sense. The higher-ups, that is to say, who KNOW they are lying when they say something like "the only responsible fiscal course is borrowing from private investors at commercial rates of interest rather than using the Bank of Canada to create our money debt-free" are evil sons of bitches scamming us big time, and they know it - but then there are those in the middle bureaucracy, or lower average citizens repeating the nonsense they have been told while young and, not being of strong brain, have absorbed that nonsense as gospel, and go around preaching this bullshit in the full belief it is true - and in that belief, making up their own arguments to support it as well - the bandwagon effect, in a way. And that is what the MPP sounds like in this story here - Tories turn on freeloading lobbyists - we all KNOW that Mike "Mr. Fraser Institute" Harris was as corrupt as they come, and knew damn good and well what he was doing in terms of lying to screw the people of Ontario while helping his rich corporate buds - but I expect that while SOME of the MPPs were in on the scam, and getting paid off one way or another, there were also some like this guy here, who now feels totally betrayed when the crap that Harris et al were up to gets exposed. True Boxites, believing See Spot Run to be the ultimate in the Public School Education HAHAHAHAAA - maybe this guy will NOW start to get educated for real.

I mean, wait while I retrieve my jawbone from the fucking ground, right??? Does NOONE in the fucking media recall a period starting around August of 2002 and lasting through March of last year while George Bush and his cronies were spending most of their time inciting the entire world into violence against Iraq?!?!?!?
